Location and Geography

  •  Area
    • Executive Order No. 220 under President Corazon Aquino created the Cordillera Administrative Region.
    •  Consists of the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and the chartered City of Baguio and the component City of Tabuk.
    • Total Land Area:1.8 Million hectares
    •  Agricultural Area: 297thousand hectare
  • Climate and Topography

    • Cordillera is the only part of the country that has cool weather all year-round. Average temperature is from 15-26o C and can go as low as 8o C from december to February.
    • Generally rugged terrain and steep mountain ranges.

    • More than one-half of the region has slope of 50% and above which limits the area for intensive agriculture and settlement, but the other areas can be developed as agro-forestry.

    • Minimum: 3 meters above sea level (Apayao)
    • Maximum: 2,992 meters above sea level (Mt. Pulag, Benguet)
