Location and Geography

    • Located in the northwestern part of the island of Mindanao

    • Consists of 5 provinces: landlocked province of Bukidnon in the South; Misamis Oriental in the North; the paradise island of Camiguin in the Northeast; Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental in the West. It comprises 9 cities of Cagayan de Oro, Gingoog, El Salvador, Iligan, Malaybalay, Valencia, Ozamis, Oroquieta, and Tangub.

    • Located outside the typhoon belt and enjoys a climate that is favorable to agriculture and industrial activities.

    • Type II—No dry season with very pronounced maximum rainfall from November to January in the province of Camiguin and Misamis Occidental.

    • Type III - Relatively dry from November to April and wet during the rest of the year, affecting Misamis Oriental and Central Bukidnon.

    • Type IV—Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year in Northeastern Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.

    • Region X geologically is a combination of plains, mountains, rolling hills, and coastal areas with rich soil, abundant minerals, agriculture, forest and aquaculture resources.
